Good day everyone

how long Embassy/consulate take to update status on Status Enquiry Website as i lodged my child's OCI application on 3 Jan 2025 at VFS Adelaide but when i check Status Enquiry Website it shows "No such record found"
On VFS website it showing Your application is received and under assessment at the High Commission/Consulate General of India.

i applied on 10 Jan Pal. same status as yours. can you please let me know when the status gets changed. that will help give me an estimate of processing time. thanks

have u subscribed for sms notifications? if so when did u get your message that it is under processing at consulate? mine received on 21st Jan 2025 after lodging on 10th Jan at Perth's VFS office.

I haven’t got any notifications but can be checked on vfs global website by entering Passport number and date of birth.

OCI application received at Consulate General of India (CGI) Sydney via VFS: September 24 2024.
OCI received via courier: February 14 2025.
Total time: ~5 months.

finally some progress at my son’s OCI application

applied at VFS Adelaide on 03/01/2025
Received at Sydney on 06/01/2025
Acknowledgement date 19/02/2025

they took 7 weeks to acknowledge

looks like it will take another 8 weeks to process.

Hey everyone, I'm about to apply for my OCI. From what I understand, the processing time is currently over four months. Does this apply only to applications submitted in Sydney, or is it the same across Australia? Also, if applying through VFS Melbourne instead of Sydney could speed up the process, would that be an option for me?

You have to apply through VFS Sydney only
The processing time varies from state to state and time to time
There is a considerable delay in processing at both Indian high commission in all the categories of applications

Thanks! Just to confirm, the process now requires surrendering the Indian passport first, obtaining the surrender certificate, and then applying for OCI. I believe that at some point last year, both could be done simultaneously, but that’s no longer the case. Is that correct?

You can submit both the applications together even now

Hi All
anyone recently applied oci application at CGI Sydney?

Looks like CGI Sydney has stopped working on OCI applications. i have sent multiple emails and got no reply. Called VFS few time and they have a standard answer every time its under processing. its been 3 months and still under processing. Very Disappointing
