I applied on renunciation aand oci on 16/10, as processing times vary, I am not expecting my application finalised until next year then.

After a long wait & multiple calls & complaint emails to the consulate, I finally got my OCI Card today.
I applied in July, and the date of Issue on OCI is 16th October.
It has only 2 pages, and the quality of the paper, etc compared to the Indian passport also is very bad, looks like someone printed it in a home printer.

anyway finally got it, It's true, what people say, getting Australian citizenship & passport is easy compared to getting OCI

Hi all, I would like to know the current OCI timelines, I have submitted the OCI on 26/09/2024. I was informed the process may take up to 8 weeks. I have planned my travel to India by December 1st week. Hence if it may take more time, I may have to apply for eVisa.

The passport surrender was completed previously in July and was informed the process may take up to 4 weeks, but I received the surrendered passport and certificate in 1 week. I assume the timelines may change when submitted from different cities, correct me if I am wrong.

VFS - Latest Status - Your application is received and under assessment at the High Commission/Consulate General of India.

I assume OCI portal may not have any further updates, VFS portal may be updated as the OCI being dispatched.

Hi All, I have applied for an OCI on 5th September and the status is showing - Document printing aa Processed since 27th Sep. there are no changes in main OCI tracking link and VF lS Visa tracking link which is showing document submitted to high commission of India. my question is - how long should it take from here based on experience. B) will there be any change in status like dispatched in OCI SITE?

Hi, did you apply at Melbourne? May I know if you have received your OCI? If yes, how long did it take after the Processed status to received the OCI by post?

Here is my timeline: (haven't got my OCI yet)

renunciation was done beforehand and the application was submitted to VFS Sydney.

sent OCI application via auspost: 8/7/2024
auspost delivered to VFS: 9/7/2024
VFS accepted application: 22/7/2024
Date Of Acknowledgment on ociservices.gov.in: 20/9/2024

Status on ociservices.gov.in - under process
Status on VFS website - Under assessment at the High Commission/Consulate General of India.

It took nearly 2 months for my application to be acknowledged by the Indian govt from the date it was accepted by VFS!

This shows their inefficiency in processing applications and it said a straightforward application should only take about 8 weeks on VFS website and here I am waiting for an OCI after 13 weeks.

Heard nothing after that.

Anyone can point me in any direction where I can call or email to better understand the cause of the delay?

Hi everyone. Oci was applied on the 8 th of October 2024 in Perth. Oci was applied based on marriage to an Indian oci. It says that it's still pending..any thoughts on the expected timeline or is there anyone I can call?

Can anyone confirm how many stamps are on their surrender certificate, I have only got one stamp which says CGI Sydney. There’s no signature or any authorised person’s name mentioned on it for some reason.

Got VFS email that application was received by CGI Sydney in mid-late September. Official website's OCI status check still showing "No such record found" as of 9th December. I had emailed CGI Sydney several weeks ago but got no response. Not even bothering emailing VFS because they're just going to tell me that the application was received by CGI Sydney and is under assessment. Terrible experience.

The delays in Indian High commission in Australia is the most prolific thread on the Expat forum
It reminds me of the Passport delay post covid in Australia
Till the Indian High commission pull up their socks and get cracking, there will just complaints all around

I am in the same situation.mine was received on the 3 rd of oct.i have emailed rhe high comm but have not received a reply.VFS has just replied that it's under process. No idea on what else to do
