Send an email to VFS

Hi all,

Based on my experience from last year, where an OCI application took around 1.5 months to process (mine and my daughter's), I applied for OCI for my other child, on 18 Aug 23' the application was accepted.
I have booked tickets to India for mid Oct, thinking it is plenty of time :).
Now I understand the time to get an OCI is averaging 2.5 months, I don't want to reschedule my travel (its expensive :().

I am thinking of applying for an eVisa, that allows for a 3 month stay. Does anyone know, if I receive the child's OCI during his stay in India, can he continue to stay in India based on OCI, beyond the 3 month of eVisa. I can collect the OCI from Aus and take it to India when he is traveling back?

Or if there are any any other options that I might have?

PS: Please do let me know if this is not the right place to ask the question and I should create a new thread.

Cheers,

Recheck if evisa allows 3months stay
its only 60 days as far as I can see
I doubt if you enter on an evisa, you can continue on the OCI card
Write to the CGI Melbourne and enquire
Cheers

Yes you can. I had exact same situation last year. Absolute no issues. Doesn’t matter what visa you come in - as long as you have a valid visa or oci.

Hi Guys,

I have applied for Indian passport surrender and OCI both at the same time on 3rd Oct at VFS Sydney. Will I get the surrender certificate first or it will come with the OCI card?

PS: My passport surrender status is "Your surrender certificate has been printed".

Thanks!
