larger rubbish/trash

I've noticed a lot of garbage and used furniture just by the street corner in Paris (usually near an outdoor trash receptacle).

Sometimes I want to throw out something larger and I've been wondering if this was even allowed. Just saw my neighbor take this furniture and fill the street corner with it.

Thanks!

Some towns have (or used to have) a specially announced "encombrants" pick up. Basically, it's where they'll pick up anything too large or bulky for the regular trash bins - but there are limits even to the encombrant pick-up. However, I know our town dropped the pick-up. There is supposed to be a thing where you can call to have bulky trash items picked up. It's not free however - there's a flat charge IIRC.

Like EH says, contact your local mairie and find out if they do the encombrant any more. They may be able to tell you how to schedule a special pick up if you have stuff you need to dispose of.
Cheers,
Bev
