Hello helpers,

Just a recap of our current situation:
- British man married to a US citizen.
- Friends since 2003, in a relationship since 2009.
- Married since summer 2011, and living together in Latvia since Sept 2011.
- Both still students, supported by our parents who thankfully have adequate funds.

Supporting Documents:

Appendix A (Applicant):
- Passport + 2 passport photos.
- Letter of introduction.
- CV.
- Recommendation letters (from university).
- Latvian residence permit.

Appendix B (Sponsor):
- Passport.
- Birth certificate.
- Support letter.
- Deeds of ownership to flat in Latvia.
- Declaration of permanent residence at said address in Latvia.
- Bank statement (Latvian account).
- Bank statement (UK account).
- CV.
- E-mail correspondence for work in the UK upon graduation.
- Applications for prospective jobs.
- Latvian residence permit.

Appendix C (Sponsor's Family):
- Support letter confirming rent-free accommodation at Father's house in UK.
- Mortgage statement for Father's house.
- Land registry certificate for Father's house.
- Utility bill (mobile phone, is this ok?).

Appendix D (Our Relationship):
- Previous university transcript; Applicant.
- Previous university transcript; Sponsor. (as this is where we first met in 2003).
- Amsterdam visit (photos, hotel reservation, tram stubs).
- Engagement ceremony photos.
- Wedding photos.
- Bill for payment of the wedding hotel.
- Bill for the wedding photographer and videographer.
- E-mail correspondence with the wedding co-ordinator.
- Honeymoon photos.
- Marriage certificate.
- Selection of facebook messages (August '09 to March '10).
- Selection of facebook messages (August '10 to October '11).
- Selection of skype screenshots (February '11 to June '11).

And the biometrics will be taken on Friday 11th May.

ps- Do I need to submit passport photos also as the sponsor, or only the applicant????

im not sure. we are applying from outside the uk, and as far as i know, the sponsor does not need to send passport photos......but im thinking just to send two to be on the safe side....if they throw them away no problem........

I can't see anything in the guidance for your form (applying from outside the UK) stating that passports for both are needed so I wouldn't worry about it (they weren't needed for our fiancée visa either).

But married partners applying from within the UK for some reason do according to the FLR guidance notes, and the instructions are very specific in all photos being fully named on the back and inserted into a sealed envelope.

When I applied for the spouse visa (in the US at UKBA NYC) I only sent passport photos of myself. When the time comes to apply for the ILR, though, then I'll be in the UK ('applying within') and that form does want the photos for my husband.

Interesting difference, I wonder why?
