Hi guys,

I need a quick confirmation on whether studio apartment can be used to fulfil the accommodation requirement for the spouse visa? If so then is there any size requirements for the studio apartment?

I have an agreement from the landlord to allow two people to live in the studio flat.

Kindly help.

Thanks.

But isn't that size requirement for the double bed room? In the studio flat kitchen is attached with the room separated by a wall or maybe just kitchen island?

It sounds like your living space couldn’t possibly be smaller than the minimum permitted by what you’re saying. If it’s a studio presumably it’s all connected. I wouldn’t worry about it. If the living space is separated from the bedroom by a wall then that would class as a room in itself thus satisfying the accommodation requirements subject to size. If it is separated by a kitchen island then that would be the whole space which would have to be larger than the minimum. Why don’t you just measure the room roughly and see?

Would question the sizes alreay quoted.

Even though Landlord has given the OK and for the purposes of the application, suggest a call to the Local Authority's Housing and Environmental Health Dept who have the defined regulations.
