Hi there!
As part of a Spouse Visa application inside the UK we need to include bank statements for the financial requirements.
What the official documentation says about those bank statements is:

(i) be from a financial institution to which Appendix Finance applies.
(iii) in relation to personal bank statements be only in the name of the applicant’s partner, the applicant or both as appropriate
(iv) cover the period(s) specified
(1) on official bank stationery; or electronic bank statements which are either accompanied by a letter from the bank on its headed stationery confirming that the documents are authentic or which bear the official stamp of the issuing bank on every page.

I'm a customer of Starling Bank and it seems that they only provide electronic bank statements. Those statements have something like a digital stamp on them, but it doesn't look very official, tbh. They also refuse to provide a letter confirming the authentication of the bank statements. So I'm a bit worried that the Home officer may reject the bank statements but it is not much I can do at this stage.

Has anybody used Starling bank statements for a Spouse Visa application?

Thanks a lot!

Starling does provide certified statement which does incur a fee but it is possible. I have seen recently that people have supplied electronic statement and they had no issue but if you want peace of mind just get a certified statement

  • Prove it.
Use statements as proof of identity, address or income. If you need a certified paper statement, tap the top right icon in the app to open the account menu, tap on ‘Statements’, then ‘Statement history’ and select a date range. From there, select the option to export in PDF format, then you can choose whether you’d like it as a ‘Certified’ or ‘Standard’ statement.

Thanks for your reply. I've done that, you don't have to pay any fees. But the resulting bank statements simply have a stamp saying "true copy" and a number. Not sure if that is very official. I've talked with them in the phone and they refuse to give me any sort of letter authenticating the bank statements.

If it is certified then it is legible and you should not have any issue even hard statements are scanned and uploaded these days rather than sending actual copies over. Since covid people have been submitting e-statements mostly and the FM-SE 1.7 havent been updated since ages. UKVI can always call the bank and make referrals if they want to anyway.
