I call it a rumor because I can not find this on any Philippines government websites.

Even if it is true that this is the PRA's plan, it still may not occur. For example, the Philippines Senate may see her video and not allow the changes.

Thanks Gary for your 2 posts with info from now 2 reputable PRA marketeers and while not set in concrete yet is coming from those with boots on the ground that are privy to info and simply sharing with expats.

Whether it happens or not matters little and will have little/no effect on existing SRRV holders.

Personally I believe the PRA should actually look at individual cases at a financial level and not cut and dry. What is that expat going to do/give our economy, the community, employment, investments etc.
Seems to me the PRA criteria of US 800/1000 bucks a month pension is B/S. I call that bones of your ass living but as long as they hold your deposit you are welcome.
Golly we spend minimum of P 110 to 120K per month living costs, we own everything and capitol expenditure like insurances, A/C replacements, new car/bikes, hospital bills are seperate, sure we live well but not excessive and on reflection have capitol expenditure of some P 30/35M in PH to date not including monthly living costs for the last 6 years that probably add up to a further P7M.

Regardless I'm happy to avail the very generous visitor visa.

Cheers, Steve.

I think it is a good idea to have a thread (preferably with a neutral title or a ?) that alerts about these SRRV changes. This may help folks to act before upcoming deadlines!

Perhaps not everything is final (and maybe some things are still being adjusted, I don't know), but multiple marketers are providing strong hints changes are coming.

By the time everything is on the official website, folks who want to avail the current, lower deposit may have run out of time.

I was curious about this and since neither of my two crystal balls were functioning at the time I asked the PRA directly

Thank you for reaching out to us. We appreciate your inquiry about the SRRV deposit.

The Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA) is currently implementing changes to the Special Resident Retiree's Visa (SRRV) program, which will be renamed the Expanded SRRV. These changes are set to take effect on September 1, 2025. The new program will feature a lower minimum age requirement for applicants, an increase in the required visa deposit, and an adjustment to the processing fee.

We recognize the importance of sharing this information with the public, and we are in the process of finalizing a documentary about the changes. For the official announcement and comprehensive details regarding these modifications, we kindly advise you to regularly check the PRA's official channels.

I spoke with James Brison about the changes because I have a friend who's interested in the SRRV. Starting today, Sept 1, the deposits for the Classic 50+ are increasing to $15,000 and $30,000 respectively for those with a pension and no pension.

I believe, but not sure, that people 40-50 yrs of age going for the Classic will pay $50,000 deposit for no pension, I can't remember what it is if you do have a pension.

James is charging my friend $600 usd to handle his application. Yikes! I'm glad I got to use him when he was free. 🥳 My friend is still using James and is ok with paying the fee.

It's interesting but who knows Howard as most government websites here can take years to update,,,,,,,,, when they are even online. I have been following the PRA and the SRRV for 14/15 years and is a good choice for many especially qualifying aligned military service.

What I will offer and OMO is that these fees have been in place for over 40 years so relatively become cheaper and cheaper every year for new applicants if you take into account cumulative CPI rises for deposits and charges.
I don't think it's unreasonable for the fees to rise but what is nice to see is they have left the vet fees the same.

Even standard express lane fees for regular visas has doubled from P 500 to P 1,000 and normally x 2 but the regular extension fees remain the same, for the likes of me an extra P 6K per year,,,,,, no biggy.

Time will reveal all.

Cheers, Steve.

Now the new conditions are all available online.

On time for the start today.
The layout and presentation of the information is really nice, IMO.

As it looks like, the one deposit that is still the same is for the military courtesy 50 and older.

This is an interesting point I have always been wondering about:
"Spouse and Children can be included as dependents on the initial application or added after the Principal applicant has an approved SRRVisa."
