My source once said everyone inducted in 2023, expect certificates end of Mar. Enquired again yesterday and the goal posts have moved "There will only be movement after general elections..."
I dont think the current minister wants his signature to be on the certificates because his brand is somewhat anti foreigners. If they retain him after elections then we are in trouble.

I hope by end of march they will give us the certificates it's a long wait .i attended induction 2023 April . I applied for naturalization in 2019. Got approved in 2022.good luck for everyone

Hi,

I applied for citizenship in 2019, my application was approved in March 2023, and went to an induction ceremony in Roodepoort in July 2023.

Today, 11 March 2024, I went to home affairs in Randburg to check for my certificate and the lady said it doesn't show on her system that I went to an induction. Does this usually show on the system when checking the progress of application? Do I need to go back to Roodepoort home affairs and ask there?

Has this happened to anyone else?

I attended the induction April 2023
On October 2023 only they updated my status on the system that I attended the induction
And they added my cellphone number .

Was this in Roodepoort? I am trying to figure out if the Roodepoort people take long to update that you went to the induction or if they didn’t record me.

I believe you're going to be told, 'Approved'.

Thereafter you'll watch your phone like a hawk for the call regarding 'Date for induction'.

They don't send any sms. Not even for 'application received'.
After 6 months from submission I followed up and apparently HQ sent a message to Umgeni road branch to query 3 "missing documents" Nobody called me , I didn't get any messages nor did I receive an email - DHA have all my contact details , those documents were 1. My home country police clearance 2. Dual Citizenship letter from my Consulate 3. Proof of PRP . ALL 3 were included in the original submission and Umgeni road branch had the copy of my documents so they could see its all there so they said they will liaise with the HQ about it and find out why they are not seeing those documents, they told me to come back around 22nd of March to follow up again so I will send another update next week ....... Fun and games ... its absolutely shocking we are still treated like this ...15 years of living in RSA and not sure why I thought this would be easier ...

Eish, I am sorry you are going through this. Really frustrating I must say.

What is irritating is that I am meticulous in my preparation ( did all my Visas and PRP since 2009) and the DHA Local Branch would have not accepted an incomplete application so HQ Staff are just inconsistent and I suspect it's just a delay tactic to make me frustrated and perhaps abandon the application, what they do not know is that I have set this a personal challenge of mine and won't rest until it's done 🤣

Can you share when you applied for Citizenship how long it took for the approval and was the PRP category, please?

My application took less than 4 months to approve, that was in June last year. It was quick and my induction was after 2 months of the approval. Currently I m waiting for the certificate of Naturalization

wow, that's super quick, I guess your PRP was under Critical Skills? Mine is spousal and submitted in August last year, followed up and no decision as yet

Kas. Be patient and keep checking at your application office. Yes it was critical skills, spousal they check alot of things such as if your still living together. Don't know if you put spousal interview reports in your application

We had the interviews done and supplied extensive evidence that we are still together and living together ( bills /bond docs /medical aid/ insurance docs), they did query some "missing" docs ( which were included in the original application bundle) so I have had them re-submitted and fingers crossed I will get some positive feedback soon, she told me to follow up after 8 weeks but it seems as it's going to be longest 8 weeks in the history, it's crazy to be going through this, I am with my SA Spouse 22 years and 15 years living together in SA

I would like to thank everyone for your prayers. The xenophobic minister is sitting on number 53 on the 2024 ANC Candidate List. This means his chance of being reappointed as the minister is very, very slim. Let's keep on praying guys. This minister is just being arrogant and selfish.
