Good point Newfie, you never want to go into the water if you have any rashes or sores but also try to avoid floodwaters.
A good friend of mine got a horrible eye infection after using a swimming pool in the Philippines. Nearly lost sight in one eye.
I’ve always been cautious of using hotel (in particular resort) swimming pools since then.

This is an important subject for me so I moved this initial post and opened this new topic.

My favorite place all my life has been the pool or the lakes in the US and so we'd frequently spend the day at resorts in Laguna and also BBQ, this is my positive take.

Negative began when I was carrying my 2 month granddaughter and missed the steps into the water because the 3rd step was much lower or almost doubled so not standardized, we both went under, so this resort was cool but crudely made. Later on the same day I was with the toddlers (wife's friend kids) in what was described as a kids pool but way too deep, this little girl was fighting hard to stay afloat and I was on the other end of the pool, I got there in time to get her and that was it, I'm done.

About a decade ago there was a baby or toddler pool and no worries for the kids as long as you monitor but another factor to consider is lack of or usually no lifeguard so... Instead of enjoying the day these resort's became for me a huge stress, kid's love the water.

If you're single or no kids what a joy, you can drink, karaoke and mingle with other's as if you're retired. 😂
