All,

As many have been granted immigration visa in the past and now, you might have applied for jobs from the country where you are staying.

How does that fair out? Does one get interview calls sitting in a different country?

I request you to share your experiences.

Thanks !

Hi,

If you do a search on this you'll find it's been discussed before. It's very difficult to get a job from outside Australia even if you have the correct visa. Search for other threads and you'll find all the discussions.

Cheers,
Karen

That was probably me!

My OH is in IT and when we got our PR we applied for a couple of jobs from seek and the very next morning got a phone call from the agency. My OH then had a telephone interview with them, a telephone interview with the company in Australia and then a video conference interview. He was then offered the job. I have to say though that it is very rare for that to happen, but not impossible!!!!

It works like this:

If you are working for a company which has an office in Australia, they may move you to Australia depending upon the vacancy.
But if you are applying to X company in Australia from overseas and it doesnot have presence in your country, it is next to impossible that they will entertain you.
If you are applying to X company in Australia from overseas and they have the presence in your country, they will entertain you and ask you to come for interview in your country's office if and only if it is impossible for them to fulfill their requirement in Australia.
Normally European companies with presence in Australia move their employees here. I have rarely seen this in South Asian companies/countries.
