I have few questions from our fellow mates here:
I am a Mechanical Engineer with 2.5 years automotive industry experience and I am applying for the EA registration as a Professional Engineer. I have certain queries which I need you guys to answer kindly as it would help me a lot:

1. Would it be a problem if I give all three academic reports and not even one report from professional career? If yes, please tell me what type of professional report it should be? I'm unable to understand it therefore I want to go with three academic reports done during my Bachelors Degree.

2. Are EA and Department of Immigration related? If I give a different work experience certificate to EA and a different to DIBP, will it cause a problem? Also, does EA call for verification as I don't think verification would take place that easily as I'm not on good talking terms with my ex-employer anymore.

3. Is the assessment of work-experience from EA mandatory to apply for PR?

Also, if I can please get some sample CDR reports for Mechanical Engineers?

Thanks.

Ans: EA has no problem if all three episodes are academic. These are not reports per se. You just have to write a long essay on what you have done in a project or job as per the guidlines provided in MSA booklet, page 18. Don't copy and paste your reports.
2. Are EA and Department of Immigration related? If I give a different work experience certificate to EA and a different to DIBP, will it cause a problem? Also, does EA call for verification as I don't think verification would take place that easily as I'm not on good talking terms with my ex-employer anymore.
EA doesn't do employment verification but asks you to provide a range of third-party proofs as mentioned in the booklet to assess your experience. DIBP/DHA requests you to provide the same documents as provided to assessing authority but whether they cross check or not nobody knows. It's a big risk to take and may land you in trouble if they find out later. Always, keep documents in order.
3. Is the assessment of work-experience from EA mandatory to apply for PR?
No it isn't. but it is a better thing to have in hand to support your claim if some problem in future arises with DHA. They may contact your employer or say the job duties don't match the anzsco code etc. In that case, EA's RSEA is the best bet you can rely on.
Also, if I can please get some sample CDR reports for Mechanical Engineers?
Available on the internet. But I don't recommend. MSA booklet has clear-cut guidance on what to write.
Thanks.

Thanks a lot for your kind reply.
But right now, my 3 years work experience hasn't finished so should I just wait until my 3 years work experience is fulfilled and then I should apply for the RSEA and for now just apply for the skilled assessment of degree?

Secondly, as far as projects thing you guided. Many people are telling me to include atleast one relevant employment project else it might get rejected or something like that. This is making me worried.

One last thing, my name in educational documents include my father's first name as my middle name. Whereas, in the passport it's just my first name and last name. Will that create a problem?
Hmm, this will create a lot of confusion in future also. Is this common in your country?. If the assessor is not aware of such customs, he may raise a query, but if it is common then you can search this forum how others from your country have resolved this issue. But try to get the names matched in all documents so as to make your process easier. Or else if possible get a name change document ready, there is an option to upload this in the EA application site.
