Hi folks,

Not sure if anyone here can help on this one?

I have been living here for just over one year now and have been trying to get myself some DJ residency work and tried approaching some promoters and contacted Platinum List but not one person has got back to me via these channels.

I'm a pretty handy DJ and been mixing since 1991, played globally and play all sorts of electronic music but would be looking for a place I can play deep and funky bass orientated house with some classy vocals and breakbeats mixed in for good measure and the odd classic.

If you have any ideas of people I can try approaching it would be much appreciated.

I've played a couple of times on the beach at Tiara on The Palm as I live there and know the management.

I'm open to playing at private parties too of course. :)

If you wanna listen this is my latest mix: https://www.mixcloud.com/mattharvey1/gotsdafunk/

Cheers in advance for any pointers.

Matt

From my experience, as a once upon a time dj, hanging around where they play that genre of music and speaking to the djs, will always lead you to the right people. Only problem is djs are very clicky and such questions only lead them to think you want to steal their night away from them so you have a lot of trust to build before they can break you off some information. My dj friends in the uae play different genre's so I wouldn't even know where to start with your genre.

It's tough here. Residencies are given to 'well known' dj's i.e. the guys who work on the radio, or have a good reputation or have been doing it for years on end.

Try contacting the guys at Audio Tonic - they're all super nice.

Thanks Guys,

Unfortunately at my age life's too short to hang around other DJ's and promoters to build trust and all that malarkey.

Will try the guys at Audio Tonic again (sent them something a while ago but they didn't respond).

Where there's a will there's away I guess.

Cheers
