Hi, my mother was French and I was born in the UK!! My mother registered my birth at the French Consulate in 1985 and also registered her marriage to my father who originally came from Barbados but had a British passport!!
Both my parents are now deceased but I applied for a French passport in December 2019 at The French Consulate in London and obtained it a week later!!
My youngest daughter then applied to have her British birth certificate transcribed into a French birth certificate at The French Consulate, in May 2020 before she was 18 years old, which they acknowledged in May 2020, but the French Consulate did not deal with her application until June 2020 saying that she was now a majeure!! They then said that she needed a certificate of french nationality as her application had gone past her 18th birthday!!
My daughter then sent off her British passport, British Birth certificate, 2 photos, POA, my French birth certificate, my French passport (copy), her mothers British Birth certificate translated, British divorce absolute translated, her parents British wedding certificate (translated) to The Tribunal Judiciare in Paris.
The Tribunal then responded months later and said that they now needed her French Grandmother's and French Great grandparents French birth certificates, her Great grandparents French wedding certificate and also her British grandfathers birth certificate!!
All the above information was sent back to the tribunal except a copy of her grandfathers Barbadian birth certificate which we could not obtain as Barbados is in lockdown. Instead we sent a copy of her Bajan grandfathers British passport expired and a copy of his British Driving Licence showing his date of birth and place of birth. We also sent a copy of her French grandmothers passport and the livret de famille registered at The French Consulate (Londres) in 1985 showing the marriage of her grandparents (my parents) in the UK being recorded!!
The tribunal has given her a CNF number but have not responded to her letter from months ago which was sent international signed for?
She also asked them why her father myself (born in UK to a French mother who has a French passport) did not have to go through all this identification checking when it is proven that, if her father is French from birth then she must be, as she has not denounced any nationality? No response from the Tribunal!!
The question is how long is this process going to take as it has been a year now? It appears to be French people born out of France receive less favourable treatment than French people born in France?
Any ideas please would be most welcome? Thank you
