Hi, very unfortunately I had been served with an ADVO from a person who isn’t my family member but I had a short relationship with. The ADVO is very light and the court made an interim order not finding enough reason to have a final ADVO. Me, my partner and kids applied for Australian citizenship (we are PR) and I am worried if this ADVO would have any impact. When I lodge citizenship application I didn’t have an ADVO so should I update now?

Incidents of reported domestic violence will be considered when assessing a citizenship application.

The practical reality is that they will discover it regardless as part of the checks performed in assessing the application, and I would suggest it is better that you report it first.

I suspect that I would attach a statement along with the decision / findings of the court that led to the decision not to make a final order and maybe also the interim order and/or other court documents

I am going to give a very different opinion here. When exactly did you apply for your Citizenship? How long has it been? Are you closer to getting a grant?

Did you submit a National Police Check at the time of application?

If I were you I would just sit tight and let the process play out, the ADVO wasn't there when you first applied for your application, so you have not lied on your application.

At worst you will be asked 'Please explain' from immigration authorities, at which time you can explain the whole situation.

So my advice is to just tight.
