Hello,

Does anyone have experience with what would be the appropriate type of Christmas gift for a private creche/preschool teacher in France?

We asked around and a couple of people mentioned chocolate or wine. We are used to giving cash or gift certificates in the U.S., but it doesn't sound like that is the case here. We don't know if this wasn't just the quick easy answer... wondering what a teacher would do with all that chocolate from every parent.

Thank you / merci.

Cash is one of those things that just "isn't done" in France, and gift certificates aren't really that popular. At least with something consumable (i.e. edible or drinkable), the teacher can share with friends and family over the holidays.
Cheers,
Bev

Thank you very much. We did chocolates and a nice V&Boch gift and it worked very well... at least that's what we think.
