Hello Expats!

I'm a US citizen and recently got married to my Spanish boyfriend (in Spain). We just moved to Paris and I was told that in order to work legally in France I have to fill out an X-16 form, showing my family resident card from Spain.

Has anyone else moved to France from another European country and had to go through this process? Does anyone know where I can find this X-16 form?

Thanks so much for your help!

If your Spanish husband is working in France, you should only need to apply for a carte de séjour as the spouse of an EU resident. It will take time (everything does in France) but as long as you apply within the first 2 months of being in France, it should fly.

If you're looking to be the main breadwinner, then things get more complicated. I have not heard of this X-16 form, but if it's the prefecture saying that you have to fill this out, they should have the form for you. Otherwise, the form should have a CERFA number that you can track down online.
Cheers,
Bev
