Hello folks, I have been in IT for 8 years, Started as 1st Line, then 2nd then 3rd, for the last 3 Years I have been an IT Manager running a Secondary School on my own with 600 Systems, BUT i have NO qualifications at all (other than standard O'Levels) chances off me getting into OZ? I lived there for 3 1/2 years during primary school years, don't suppose that counts for anything?

have you checked your skill in the Skill on Demand List? If you did not do masters you have to go the RPL route. Have you checked the ACS site and the immi site?

To start with, check the stick threads (Please Read....) on top of the forum. There are some useful links which can give you a fair idea. Have you taken the point test. Do you qualify?
Speak to an agent, there are some who post regularly in here, SOMV (screen name for Veronika) posts often, her signature has her contact details. Speaking to her would help. Otherwise, search the forum for agents, many of us use agent services, some go on their own. I am using akmigration and so far they have been good. Some recommend George Lombard...
First consultation with the agent is usually free. whoever you opt for, make sure they are MIA/MARA registered.

My OH has been in IT for over 25 years and has no formal qualification in it, but we made it. He made sure he itemised as many courses (internal & external) as he could possibly remember, photocopying certificates he got etc.

So, having got over that hurdle, do you qualify to apply for a visa? Have you checked all the stickies at the top of the forum page to see if your job is on the SOL/points/age etc etc?

BTW I see you're from Inverness. We have had many happy holidays in Inverness (Aldourie).

Thanks for your advice, I would fall under Information Technology Manager on the SOL, I qualify on the Points Test but believe I have to sit some sort off test from ACS as I am not qualified, what does this involve?

Im technicaly from Maryburgh outside Inverness ... it's a lovely area but I am Pining to get back to Fremantle :( Im 25 in 2 Months Job is on the SOL, currently studying my HNC Computer Networking, CCNA, MCDST .... BUT I don't want to rely on passing them to get me into OZ, worst outcome is a fail ... then I would still like to be part way through my application :)

I work for Fujitsu ... they have an Office in Perth, Im half planning asking my line manager for an Internal Transfer to OZ, doubt he would buy it tho! lol
you do not sit for an exam, you give them all documents, in your case you have to make a report (RPL) which states how you learnt all that you did in the last 8 years in IT. Network Security is in CSL, If you can prove you have worked in the field in last one year out of 24 months plus you have 6 years experience in related field, youc an make it.
Have a look at RPL format in teh forum (there is a search option), you will get an idea how the same has to be made.

The best bet is to speak ot an agent right now. They will tell you if you can make it or not. I am sure you can.

Worse scenario, if you cant make it, you can go on a student visa, work part time and when you finish the course, apply for PR.

Hope this helps

Yes you can get an internal transfer as well.

As Anj said, you will have to do the ACS Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). This is what I had to do, as I had very little formal education. To be honest, it was very daunting, but with the help of my agent, he talked me through the process step by step and I gained a positive ACS assessment.

Also, just being on the SOL, and not MODL/CSL you will be looking at a fairly long wait for a visa, potentially 2012/2013. Just don't want you to get your hopes up too early.
