Hi friends,
I'm a newbie to the UK visa madness. I'm American and have been living in Europe for 3 years, married to a European. I've applied for a visa under the EEA family visa. My husband is already in London and working, and is in process of securing us a flatshare. I've found a lot of info about what to submit, how to prepare for the visa, etc. but not much on what to expect when I arrive. I've been in touch with people about work already, and have lined up a few interviews with recruiters for when I get there. Beyond obtaining a bank account, which I've heard can be hairy for foreigners, is there anything else that I should be researching?

Thanks! Miriam

Getting national insurance number, which is notionally similar to SS number. People have had difficulty getting it with EEA family permit, as often they are told to get residence card first.
Registering with a doctor (GP).
Getting your name on bills such as utility and council tax, as proof of address is often demanded.
