I am from Taiwan and during my study in the UK I met my boyfriend who is from Bulgaria and have worked here for 3 years. I am going back to Taiwan after two months for I don't have a visa to stay here longer than 6 months (I am a student visitor). However, my boyfriend and I plan to register a civil partnership in the future and live together in the UK. I am not sure whether I should apply for a visa for proposed civil partner or a EEA family permit to come to the UK again. For the former, my boyfriend is not a British citizen and we may not meet the financial requirement; for the latter, we are not civil partners yet and the UKBA website says we need to have a durable relationship to apply for family permit. Does that mean EEA family permit suits our situation more? Or is it possible that we can register first before I go back to Taiwan and after that I will come back as his partner? I have read UKBA pages for many times but still don't have a clear answer what to do next. Hope someone can help me here. Many thanks.
