Hi - Am looking to move to the Oliva/Gandia area next year. Have been doing lots of research about the cost of living on line, but wondered whether anyone could give me an idea of what it would cost to insure a very small cheap car with a driver with 5 years no claims bonus in the UK.

Any comments gratefully received as I am trying to work out some sort of retirement budget.

Well, to elaborate, you need to get a letter from your present insurer when you leave stating the amount of NCB in years and percentage. The Spanish company will then take this into consideration.

For me, the figure was about the same in Spain as the UK but the main difference is that you get breakdown insurance included here whereas I didnt in the UK

Try Knights Insurance in Javea

Something to bear in mind is that a spanish ncb , or one from any other country, used to have a life of only 1 month from the date taken ! Unlike the UK , where it is 2 years. With many companies a current policy still covering a vehicle will be enough for them to accept the ncb.

There are two companies over here with English speaking staff and very comparble policies to those you have in UK and generally they are cheaper than Spanish companies (although they are of course registered in Spain) Linea Directa (Direct Line) who are offering one month free at the moment and Abbey Gate.
