Hello all,

Looking for suggestions here..

Recently, we had a visitor visa refusal for a strange reason relating to financial circumstances. My in-law (married and living with husband & a kid) applied for 600 visa (under Family sponspored) to visit our new born baby. Her application was just for herself and the kid. She had provided her 10-year old FD statement and some savings since long back (with 15L+). On top of it, we have provided our bank statements and financial standings as well as my wife is sponsoring her. However, her appl was rejected stating - the bank statement shows a large recent deposit which was on 2014.

"In support of their application, the applicant has provided a bank statement dated 24 March 2024. The bank statement shows a large recent deposit on 16 July 2014 with no clear indication of where the funds came from or why the deposits were made recently in large amounts. As such, these recent deposits raise concerns they may have been made solely to show the applicant’s financial position for the purposes of supporting their visa application and the evidence provided does not reflect the applicant’s genuine financial status. "

This deposit was done on 2014 which CO realized, but considers it as a recent one. I dont understand what is being interpreted here. As we have applied this under Family sponsored stream - we have an option to appeal, but not sure if its worth the cost and time. Can I go for an appeal or is it worth to wait 6 months and reapply ? Looking at the appeal fee of $3,374 which will be refunded only 50% if the case goes in my favor?? Not sure, if its worth to spend such a big amount for a visa of $190. TIA

You could appeal (in this case) as if you wait 6 months and reapply it would also be the same.
My opinion is that you would have to prove the reason of the large deposit in 2014 (maybe inherited) but evidence is important.
