Visa Processing Times

Hi,

Online it says that for visas of my type 92% are processed in 15 days and also when I submitted my documents they said they aim to have them processed in 15 days. Im wondering what that 15 days actually refers to, because it took 11 working days between when they took my biometrics and documents at the visa application centre, to when I was emailed to say my application had arrived in Sheffield. Does the 15 days include those 11 days of shipping or not? Also is that kind of shipping time normal from somewhere like Sydney? Because international express post is suppose to take 2-4 days, and even economy is only meant to take 8 days, so I dont understand what was happening in that time. Should I expect it to take the same amount of time to be shipped back?

Thanks in advance for any help

15 working days from the time they receive the application (documents) at the decision making centre. So the time estimate does not include shipping.

Also it does need to be understood that the 15 days is a target based on historical data, it's not a guarantee. So don't turn it into an expectation of certainty
Just be aware based of previous months timings, it can take anywhere up to 3 months for the application to be processed.
Thanks clever_octopus, thats what I suspected.

j4v3d what is the up to three month based on? Has it been particularly slow lately? 2 years ago when I applied it only took 11 working days including shipping, thought that was through Manila. In the email they sent me this time it said if it wasnt processed in 15 days someone would contact me to explain why, so is it really that common for it to go that far over 15 days?

They recently moved visa processing from Manila (among many other places) to Sheffield, and as such there is quite a backlog and the whole 15 day timeline has gone out the window. Have a look around the forum, lots of people complaining about being sold one timeline but not actually receiving it.
Thanks guys, thats very useful to know!
