Hi everyone,
I got my 457 visa granted in January 2017 for 4 years; the occupation (policy analyst) was removed from the list in April 2017.
I wonder if after 3 years I would be able to apply to a 186 visa transition stream? Any thoughts or solid information on this?
Anyone in a similar situation (occupation removed from the list) trying to apply to 186 now?
Thanks in advance! :)

Though I am not a migration consultant but have been in a situation similar to you. So my 2 little cents:

Continue with your employer at any cost for 2 years, post that, request them to apply for PR nomination(186), 186 is quite different than 189 and had lots of advantages(Age, no English proficiency requirement etc). I am sure if the employer applies for 186 then there is no reason immigration can deny it even when it is removed from the skill set.

The best thing is to gather some knowledge(Search on google, read the DIBP website and you can even call 131881(DIBP call free number, very helpful people from my experience and will give you the right advice) to clarify. Once you are exhausted with all the information, visit a Migration consultant(Good one) and discuss with them.

Best of Luck,
AJ
