Hi,

Please let me know if this needs to be posted exclusively in the UK forum. I have cross posted it there for now because I'm just not sure at this point where it belongs as it involves two countries.

I am a US citizen married to a UK citizen and living in the UK for 5 years now. I am currently applying for ILR and intend to apply for citizenship immediately after approval.

My husband and I would like to move to the USA for a few years once my citizenship is approved. Would this be possible/legal for me? Will I be able to return to the UK without issue when the time comes?

If so - my husband wants to work in the US and ideally would like a green card.

My questions are
- is this scenario possible?
- can any part of the green card application process be happening during the same time as my citizenship stuff here in the UK or do they need to be entirely separate?
- has anyone done this and can help?!

Any insight at all would be really, really helpful. Thank you so much!

Once you have your British citizenship you can come and go from and to the UK as much as you like.

You can start your sponsorship of your husband, for HIM to live in the US, when ever you like.
The process for sponsorship to US is currently taking about 12 months.
Start the process here:
