I have an L1A Visa which expires on Oct 31st and my company has filed for the extension and paid the premium processing fee to receive the adjudication by November 15th. I am told this filing is for my L1A "status" and not the actual "visa" in my passport.

I am due to go on vacation to New Zealand on December 15th, so my question is:

Will I have to travel back to the UK once my status is extended (assuming of course that it is!) and renew the Visa in my passport so that I can return to the US.

I was told that is the case but want to confirm before I go booking flights etc as I would rather not have to travel back to London just to get something stamped in my UK passport.

Thanks in advance.

You'll have to get the visa at a US consulate before you return. You may be able to arrange it from other than London -- though this is at the whim of local practices.
