Hello everybody,

Hope you can help me out regarding the visa type I need to choose.

To start, Is Civil Marriage and Civil Partnership the same?

Got married in the UK through a civil marriage ceremony by the Registrar in 2015.

I'm applying for a visa using: (Same-sex marriage, both LAD)

Reason for visit: Settlement
Visa Type: Settlement.
Visa sub type: Confused! Do I pick Husband? or Civil Partnership?

Visa sub type (Husband) - gives the instruction to fill VAF4A - Appendix2
Visa sub type (Civil Partnership) - gives the instruction to fill unspecified Appendix and also asks to fill SU07 form.

I have actually started my On-Line application (chosen - Civil partnership) but haven't submitted yet.

Hope someone here can help me out.

Thanks in advance!!!

Regards,

Gee&Jay

In the UK, a Civil Partnership is only between same-sex partners. Even though same-sex couples can (now) legally marry, they can also form a civil partnership (precursor to legal marriage), which opposite-sex couples can't. This is more info than you asked for...

If you are already married and you (the applicant) are the husband, select Husband.
My dear clever octopus, thank you for the much needed info. Great help! :);)
