My husband has just completed his 22yrs in the Army and will receive a full pension. We are moving to Brisbane in June/July and we are trying to figure out what is the best way to receive it in Australia and how he will be taxed on it.

Any other ex-squadies feedback would be appreciated!

Australian residents must declare and pay tax on foreign income such as pensions even if that income is held oversees and never brought into Australia, however you can also claim the tax paid in the foreign country on that income as a deduction.

You can find out more at Australian Taxation Office Homepage but I suggest you seek professional advise.

Smart move coming to Brisbane in the middle of winter, it'll give you time to acclimatise to the heat.
