Hi People,

A bit of background info for you guys, Im 26years of age, I have degree in construction management 2-1. I have good experience in my field and have also worked for Formula one McLaren travelling the world. My partner has also a 2-1 in teaching, we are both looking to move to Aus.

I was just wondering what the chances of me finding work with my related degree is, how the process works.

I would love to get on a graduate programme however not sure if i need a sponsor.

Any help would be brilliant as have only just started looking into this

Hi Dan,

You and your partner will need a visa to be able to work in Australia. For more information, visit Australia's Department of Immigration and Citizenship website at:

immi.gov.au

If your partner is also under 30 years old and if the UK is a participating country (I believe it is), both of you can apply for the Working Holiday Visa. More information can also be found from the above website. This would allow the both of you to live and work in Australia up to a year. However, you can only work up to 6 months per employer. In addition, there is no guarantee that you will get a job in your field. I've been reading in one post in this forum that gave more details about some people's experiences on that. It all depends on various reasons.

The other visas require that your skilled occupation be in a list of skills in demand.

Check out some online job websites from Australia:
seek.com.au
mycareer.com.au
indeed.com.au

You can also apply for a student visa if you prefer. I don't think you need a sponsor. But I do believe you have to show you have the funds to be able to afford the tuition and cost of living.
