I am a New Zealander currently living in the UK on the YMS visa. My
visa expires in November but I am eligible to apply for an Ancestry
visa. I have recently renewed my passport so carry my old passport
with YMS visa in it as well.

Can you please give me any advice on the following;

-Can I apply for the Ancestry visa with my new passport in August before the YMS expires as long as I go home to apply?

-In terms of maintenance funds I haven't got enough saved but my
parents said they will gift me the money needed as they did for my YMS
visa..Is this allowed with Ancestry visa?

Thank you in advance for any help

#1 Yes. When you enter on your ancestry visa, your Tier 5 visa is automatically cancelled, as you cannot have more than one leave active at the same time.
#2 Generally yes, I'd have around £2,000 to £3,000 as start-up funds, even though you are already established in UK.

UK Ancestry Visa Help

Thank you for replying.

Do my parents have to sign a letter saying they are gifting me the funds? I will probably only get the funds before I apply so won't be able to show they have been in my account for a long period of time. Is this an issue?
