As David says - your prescriptions will probably be understood by the GP you choose - but first of all you will need to ensure you are eligible for a Carte Vitale here - ie covered by the French social security system, to the tune of 70%. You need to discuss your situation with Dept of Health or whatever in Newcastle. Based on recent UK NI payments you may be covered for a certain period in France - possiby as much as 2 years. After that, if you do not work here, you will need private health insurance until you reach retirement age and the UK takes over responsibility again for (70%) of your health costs, assuming you have being paying NI contributions for 31 years or more.
