Hi All,

I have just received my permanent residence visa about a week back and am planning to move with my family in a couple of weeks. We are expecting a baby and intend to deliver in Australia. I also want to bring either my mother or my mother-in-law to support us till delivery and beyond.

How do I go about applying for the tourist visa? Is it as simple as applying for a tourist visa under normal circumstances?

You can apply Visitor Visa 600 for them.. there are some categories in 600 Visa. you can choose one among them. Applying visitor visa is a not a big deal compared to PR.

Will they be seen as an automatic risk of overstaying?

Hmm. I was planning to go for tourist visa for the purpose of visiting family. as i don't have a job in aus yet, so wont be able to show sufficient funds to sponsor. My question there is if tourist visa for visiting family can be applied for while i havent even activated my pr as yet?
