Hi,

Any one have clue on how much time DIAC takes after MED/PCC are finalized. Its almost 2 months since my MED/PCC (on 10/01/2012) has been finalized and I am still to hear anything positive. I have applied for VE 176 Visa.

IELTS (L: 8.5, R: 8.0, W: 6.5, S: 7.0) Overall : 8.0 (May 2011)
ACS Approval: 19 Apr 2011
Visa Sub class: 176 (Vic SS), approval in 31 May 2011
Visa Applied 176 : 19 Jun 2011
PCC done: 08 Aug 2011
Med done: 10 Jan 2012 (Due to pregnancy of my wife)
Visa Approved : Waiting

Hi,

Yes and I do not think you need IELTS score for SS. You only need skills (mine is ANZSCO Code: 261313 Occupation: Software Engineer).
As far as I know, in point based system you need, IELTS score affects you VISA application. This is why I could not apply for 175. Luckily I got SS, so I applied for 176.

Suggest you give DIAC a call and ask them if anything is pending. I had given them a call 15 days after All docs were Met and I got the visa in 2 days after that. I know the wait is painful... been through that... checking the status each morning and all that

It really frustrating. Actually I have applied through agent and my agent has written couple of time to check anything pending.

DIAC have replied that all the documents have been received and will get back if anything else required (10 days before).

Not sure where the process is stuck

My agent is insisting on sending the original PCC to DIAC though mine is an online application (176 visa). I am a bit scared of losing it in transit. How did you guys do it? PCC submitted in original or scanned copy?

I have given scanned copy for my PCC and my agent uploaded the same. No question asked so far.

I am connecting to my colleagues and ex-colleagues to get job offer from here only. But can not go all extent till I receive VISA. So noting concrete so far. Let c hw it turns out.

I am in a similar situation. Just waiting for the visa to be granted. Meanwhile I am trying to get the pulse of job market there for my profile.

Online applications need not send any hard copies..
You can send scanned copies..
even if it was a paper based application,you need to send only certified copies...originals do not need to be sent to them...

Nothing much can be done till visa is granted. Friends in AUS suggested that it is much better to attend interviews F2F rather than telephonic from here. I think I will do job search just before my initial entry and attend interview while I am there. Meanwhile, I am browsing thru job portals. The number of advertised jobs is not so encouraging. Let's hope things will be better soon.

Looks so in SA as per job portals. But I am banking my hopes on the fact that they do not sponsor specific skilled workers if they have no requirement. Let's see.

I read somewhere that the unemployment rate for software engineers is 0.5%. That figure should put our fears to rest.
