You may be in the situation where you need accountants in the country where you're moving from and in Australia. We have to do tax returns in the UK first and then do tax returns in Australia (using some of the figures from the UK ones).

Do I have to pay tax in australia as a permanent resident on the income earned from my home country?
Hi Rackspace,

What visa type are you on? If it's a temporary visa, then the ATO might not require you to pay tax on income in your home country. But it depends on what type of income.

However, you may still have to pay tax on it to HMRC, depending what type income it is.

If you're on a temporary visa, then look here for more info: Foreign income exemption for temporary residents - introduction

Kind regards,
Jim Hennington
