Suspension of Subclass 489 Invitations Starting 16 Dec. 2013 | Skillselect EOI review serviceStarting 16 December 2013, no invitations will be issued for Skilled – Regional Provisional (subclass 489) visa, this according to the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC).
DIAC is the department that issues and manages Australian visas.
DIAC announced that there is no definite schedule until this invitation suspension for Subclass 489 visa will last.
The “large number of outstanding applications” was cited by DIAC as the main reason behind this suspension.
Other than the Skilled – Regional Provisional visa, you can also express interest in the following visas in your SkillSelect EOI:
-Subclass 189 Skilled – Independent (Permanent);
-Subclass 190 Skilled – Nominated (Permanent);
-Subclass 132 Business Talent (Permanent);
-Subclass 188 Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional);
-Subclass 186 – Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS);
-Subclass 187 – Regional Sponsored Scheme (RSMS); and
-Subclass 457 – Temporary Work (Skilled).
In the most recent SkillSelect invitation round which was on 18 November this year, 916 intending migrants were invited to apply for Skilled – Independent (subclass 189) visa; while 40 were invited to apply for Skilled – Regional Provisional (subclass 489) visa.
With the Subclass 489 invitation suspension, the regular automated invitations results will now solely be focused on Subclass 189 visa.
