Hi all,

This is a post regarding the rules once a visa is obtained.

My partner recently obtained his unmarried partner visa and we now both now live and work in the same area. Due to the nature of my work however, I have just been asked to relocate 4-5 days a week on an out of town project.

The implications of this however would mean that I will be away from my partner and technically living in a hotel 5 days a week (returning back home every weekend) whilst he is staying at my parents house. Could anyone let me know if this in anyway effects/violates my partner's visa? On one hand my permanent home address is still the same as my partners but it is my understanding I not be technically cohabiting with my partner if I am away 5 days a week?

Thank you for any light you can shed on this.

Based on your header info, it looks like you are in Los Angeles...

Sorry - please ignore that! I will try to amend that :) (I used to be the expat but now my boyfriend is the expat!)

Of course that's not really legal. You received the visa to live together with your partner. However, you'll probably get away with it.
