Hello People... Im writing from India... and looking to apply for PR in australia... my husband has been working as freelancer photographer for past 5 years and we have two kids...
We had gone to two different agents for consultation in India... one said that South Australia is inviting photographers to apply and our chances are good... whereas the other agent said no state has invited photographer to apply and our chances are very low...
Im very confused whom to trust .. both agents have very good ratings and are MARA registered..
Please help if someone has knowledge on this..
Thanks

At the moment, Photographer (ANZSCO: 211311) is not available on any of the states' lists.

Yes, yyur husband may be eligible to pledge a 489 visa. South Australia has Photographer (211311) in their State Nominated Occupations. It's still in green availability. Check it yourself: https://www.migration.sa.gov.au/skilled-migrants/lists-of-state-nominated-occupations

Source: I'm a photographer, applied to SA early july and received an invitation to apply to 489 visa earlier this month. :)

I have been following the opportunities for 211311 for some time. It didn't have many options and last year it was under SA's supplementary skilled list. Good news it moved to the state's list for the 2018/2019 FY, so it made it a little easier. Lucky me I already had everything ready: english score, skills assessment etc.

Can't predict if things will keep this way in the future. If your husband still didn't get an appropriate assessment from VETASSESS, he should hurry. Since he's freelancer, self-employed (my case too), he will need to gather extra documents to satisfy their requirements.

Good luck!

Hello Folks,

Sorry to intrude into your discussion. I felt like minded people should connect.
I have currently applied for visa and waiting for a grant. Although my core skills are different and I have applied for 189/2613 code, I'm a photographer at heart and i have been a freelance photographer for the past 8 years whenever I could take time off my core work.
I have experience with wedding photography, event photography but my heart is at Portrait and especially dance portrait photography. I still cover events every now and then.

I'm hoping to take my passion up a notch provided I have an opportunity in the new place.

I would like to know if there are any updates on your respective searches and waits.

True, 489 is a provisional visa, but it's one of the best options we 211311 have.

I was invited by SA under 489 last october and received my visa two weeks ago. :D

We're a little past the middle of FY and according to the SA's list, photographer is currently in low availability. Maybe it will return to their supplementary skilled list in july, which would require special conditions to apply.

I wish good luck to fellow photographers, both pros and amateurs!
