Hi,

I got a PR (189) for Australia, and I am planning to move to Melbourne. Booked my flight for 7th Feb 2016, and will reach Melbourne on 8th Feb (7 am MEL time).

Have not been able to get an employment yet, nor any accommodation. I guess it is too early for that.

I had a question in my mind, and need your help. I wanted to call my mother as soon as possible over there in Melbourne, if possible in a month or so? Is it possible, if at all?

I have talked to some agents over here in my hometown, so that I can make some arrangements before leaving, but got no solid answer.

Look up the DIBP pages about sponsoring your parents. Briefly, you need to be able to prove that you are established in Australia before you can sponsor your parents. That means having a job, income and having lived there for at least 2 years. After that, there are two categories of sponsorship - one which has a long wait and another where you can pay something like 50k to bring your parents on shore immediately.

For the near future, while your mother can join you on a tourist visa, she can't stay for too long.

Its better not to rush the application for first sponsorship. If you are not settled and dont have stable income then its is very likely that visa will be rejected. Take your time and then apply for tourist visa. More time you will spend in oz more they will know about you . Its exactly same as banks KYC.

Hi, I got your point. I wanted my mother to be in MEL, Australia, say after a month or two I reach there in Feb'16. My wife's pregnant and my mother would be lot help for the initial days.

I will definitely apply for some permanent/long term residency options, once I am 2 years old there. But looking for short-term options at the moment.

Any idea's?
