Hey Folks,

So I started work in February and am still on emergency tax even though I have supplied my NI number to my employer.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to achieve the following:

- Inform HMRC of my situation so I can get on the proper tax code so no more emergency tax.
- Get a tax refund for last year because February is last years (from a tax perspective)

Is it possible to do all this online? I had to hang up after being on hold with HMRC for 45 mins (not even sure if I was on correct line).

Any ideas? Thanks!

Brilliant, exactly what I needed - Thanks!

Not sure why the payroll rep just didn't direct me towards this.

Hi Joppa, actually I'm experiencing the same issue!
I left my first job, not having my P45 form yet, I signed P46 (starter checklist) and got paid from next job with a very big tax!!!! So Im waiting for the P45 from the 1st job to send it to the second job which is the main one now. But I need my overpaid tax !!!!
Could you explain what did you mean by:

ANY TAX OVERPAID WILL BE REFUNDED IN YOUR PAY PACKET

Do you mean my job will refund through my wage? Or the HMRC will refund me at the end of the tax year as award?????
