Last night, me and my (also white) mate went firstly to a Bangladeshi, then to a North indian, and finally a Pakistani night club.
Now, apart from the fact we were the only white faces, we were greeted very well, enjoyed a beer or 3, and it wasn't a bad way to spend a few hours.
The dancers looked incredibly sad though, and I understand that they are basically prisoners who aren't allowed out of their rooms (in a hotel) apart from to dance.
They're paid a pittance and to show their appreciation the guys pay AED50 for a garland or AED500 for a "tiara" to loan them for the evening - and they get 50% of the proceeds.
It felt like exploitation at the lowest level to me.
