I am sure they do hibernate as I don't recall ever seeing one in winter here. As hibernation is temperature led, I think you'll have to wait for winter to come. Hopefully it'll be quite a while yet.
I think that it's a short hibernation period as they have been seen during February. The venom of the poisons one is also stronger when the snakes come out of hibernation so be a little extra careful at that time.
I have seen them as late as early December sunning on the rocks.
