Hello Everyone,

I'm new to this forum and would like to seek some information from you all. I filed for EOI in NSW with 80 points (occupation: Marketing Specialist) about a couple of months back, however, no ITA received till date.

Now I've realized that I can fill up EOI for South Australia under 489 for the same job code as the job code is featuring in the Supplementary Skilled List of South Australia.

Can you pls guide me if this will be a correct step (to file EOI for SA under 489) considering my long term view of settling in Australia.

Any help / suggestions / references are appreciated.

Thanks.

I assume u already knw 489 leads to 887 i.e. PR. Yes, SA is a beautiful state to live and work. From many consecutive years Adelaide secures it place among top 5 of worlds most livable city. Condition of 489 is oy for two years, after that u can move to any state u would like too move.

I would also take this option if I had 80 points. I think it depends on your circumstances. There are some benefits for 189 and 190 that are not available to 489, such as medicare. Research well and then decide based on what is right for you.

Thank you for your opinion and you correctly pointed out regarding the benefits of 189/190 over 489. However, currently, this is the only option I have basis my occupation.

If there's any other way out for 189/190 pls do let me know.

Also, is the PR a sure shot thing after spending 2 years in a designated area or, are there some other caveats to it?

Responses / Suggestions / Comments are much appreciated.

No other way for 189/190. Complete ur minimum required score and u can apply same. The most easiest way to increase point score is through English test. You can also claim spouse points in case married.

After 489, PR is sure shot till but you have to complete its mandatory requirement.

I was in the exact same situation with 80 points for Marketing Specialist and have been waiting for NSW Stream 2 since June.

Finally in August I made an EOI for the 489 SA and secured ITA. As a final push to NSW however, I have now included partner points in my EOI last week, will wait for 190 for 15 more days, else file in my 489 Visa with SA.

Medicare anyway costs about 1000 AUD, which is okay. Plus we don't have kids so education benefits are not a factor for us.

Since you have been waiting way longer than me, I suggest to go ahead with SA 489 too and get started with the Australian life, rather than waiting endlessly for something which may or may not come through.
