Hello, I'm currently gathering proof of relationship for my fiancé as she will apply for fiancé visa soon, how can I get proof of intentions to marry? The office said unless she's physically here I can't book, I have heard of a provisional booking but they said they can't give me unless she's with me... So no evidence where can I obtain this elusive piece of evidence? Any information would be appreciated very much! Thanks in advance!

I had the exact same thing only im doing marriage visitor however the same rules apply we cant give notice until my partner is in the UK nor can a wedding booking confirmation be given to us . However they did give me written confirmation as to why they cant give me a registry booking, its a simple form which states the reason why and phone number on there for the ECO to call. Do ask them for this they can email it or post it to you.I however showed other ways my intent to marry, such as wedding meal booking after in a hotel , honeymoon night hotel room booking, wedding flowers receipt, wedding rings receipts, bridal/groom wedding attire receipts, all those kind of things shows that your wedding is being planed. I have booked and paid for my flowers and they not due to me until November!

Good Luck

My fiancé was able to pay a small fee to save the date at the registrar. That receipt served as proof of the wedding. I also included receipts for engagement ring, venue, cake baker, gown, flowers, photographer and a save -the-date card that we sent to friends. The point is to prove the plans are well advanced.

Thanks guys, nice advice I will start making preparation for it and gain proof this way, this is my first time in sorting marriage It's going to be civil as they force us 6 months to do it, with all the money I spent visiting and supporting her I don't have much as savings not to mention support for the first 6 months when she's here, I heard about designated office for immigration fiancé marriage? Normal register won't accept?

Has to be a designated office for giving notice if your fiancé is subject to immigration , if you give your local registry office a call they can tell you your nearest one, apparently there is quite a few in London but only 1 near me , however they advised me that where you give notice is not where you have to marry, however if you don't marry at the designated registry office and give notice to them you will be marrying at another venue that's the place you have to marry at. I know where your coming from with cost, like I said I am also in a similar situation , at my designated office they have the statutory room which is up to 6 guests that was only 45 pounds ( if marrying Mon to Thursday) plus the 35pounds each for giving notice and the 8 pounds for two marriage certificates. I never wanted a big wedding do anyway so the ceremony we got planned is a legal wedding just a shorter one and no music or readings for example.

All the Best.

In England and Wales, you have to go to a designated register office (any on the list - google for it) and give notice. It must be at least on Day 8 of your arrival at UK (so if you arrive on a Tuesday, the earliest date is the following Tuesday) and you must appear together. Then after 14 days (Day 15) with no objection having been received, you can marry in any registration district within 3 months.
In Scotland, the rule is different and every office is designated, and notice can be given by one person or even by post.

Remember the procedure is different if you are marring in the Church of England or Church in Wales. For other non-Anglican marriages, you have to go through both civil and church formalities.

I called my designated registration office in Hatfield and they where very reluctant to assist me as if what I was requesting advice on was criminal, anyway they couldn't give me any proof that I wanted (provisional booking) but they sent me a email outlining the reasons they can't do it on a ms word document, I doubt this could be used as evidence? Seriously struggling to convince them to send me a email to confirm a provisional booking....

They won't book anything for me, they keep saying that my fiancé has to physically be here for 8 full working days then we go to book our wedding, but how can I book if she's not here? She's applying for fiancé visa soon and I need to show my intentions to marry, I heard about a provisional booking is necessary evidence to show intentions... I asked my designated registration office yet they where very reluctant almost careful not to give me any proof of my attempt...

Would this suffice? i had email from the designated office i applied for a booking they sent me an email with GRO email re no written confirmation.doc, could i use this as evidence i made an attempt then send a letter like.. example

Once my partner has arrived in the uk and settled we will be looking to marry as soon as possible however under (AECIP 8303) the area registrar has said it`s not possible to make a booking until she has been in the UK at least 8 days then organise a meeting together in person only then can we book our wedding. I am present and settled in the uk our relationship is subsisting , and we fully intend to live together permanently without recourse to any public funds .
