Hi guys, I'm new to the forum but was wondering if you could help me out. I am currently living in Australia on a 2nd Working Holiday Visa that started on June 14th. I plan on applying for a Partner Visa in June 2016. I returned to Canada with my Australian partner for 13 months in between my 1st and 2nd WHM Visa. I lodged an Australian tax return online in July 2014 while I was in Canada, and now I am wondering if I should lodge a return this year even though I did not live or work in Australia from June 2014 - June 2015? I only ask because I plan to become a permanent resident of Australia, and if it is looked upon better to not have any gaps in my tax records. Thank you in advance for any advice, it is much appreciated!

You only need to lodge a tax return if you lived in Australia and earned any income in Australia in that financial year.
