Hi All,

I'm in the thick of organising to move over to the UK and am trying to find the best (most economical, safest, most hassle-free) way to ship over some personal and household effects.

The items are mainly some documents and files, a couple of heavy books and one or two favourite small appliances, like our coffee machine! Any suggestions of good companies in the Cape Town area that can handle a 2-3 boxes?

I've contacted mainline shipping companies and they are more expensive than expected - around R4000 a tea chest approx 48 x 48 x 61cm (max 30kg). Can anyone indicate if this price is in the usual ballpark?

I've used 1st Contact in a move from UK to Cape Town, and they were great. But I haven't been able to find out yet if they ship the other way.

Any info appreciated.

I used Pickfords to move my stuff from CT to the UK. Had half a container load. Their prices were way cheaper than everyone else.

They really did a great job packing everything and I had no issues with my goods arriving here in one piece.
