Hello again,

It is coming close to submitting our application for a settlement visa for my US wife, and im just trying to think of any final things that need to go into our application.

My question is regarding submission of my passport as the sponsor.

Do I, the sponsor (UK citizen) need to submit my passport with the application, or do I only need to submit a certified copy of the bio-page (last page)? If so, the certified copy I have of this page is from 2007, is this still valid?

The reason I ask is that I will hopefully be graduating from uni in 6 weeks time and will need my passport in order to apply for my UK dental registration.

Advice needed urgently.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Just make a plain black-and-white photocopy of your bio pages - no endorsement/certification needed.

thx joppa,

you must be sick of us by now, but we are just really worried.

so just from a black and white photocopy of the last page of my passport, they can verify who i am?

Yes, because if they want to check up, they can look you up in the passport database from your passport number. Only non-British passport of those settled in UK needs to have a certified copy. Adjust contrast so that you get a clear, legible copy.
In addition, most people enclose their birth certificate as extra ID.

One last question also,

Our supporting documents do not contain certificate of no impediments, as they were submitted in order to issue, and register our marriage certificate in my wife's original native country of Palestine.

Is this going to cause problems for us, as on the UKBA website, it says that you must submit evidence that you are free to marry?

That's only required for those who have been married before, such as divorce decree or death certificate. In UK, you just declare it's first marriage for both.

Joppa,

My wife says that you are an absolute legend, and that she imagines that you must actually look like your picture in real life :)
