Hi everyone. I am in Sharjah and sponsored my husband for his residency visa. It got rejected due to "security" reasons.
They don't tell you the exact reason but he has a clean record and has previously worked in the GCC so not sure what has happened.
I am on a British passport he is on an Australian passport and I have successfully sponsored and got residency for my daughter.
Really stuck as to how to proceed now. My work HR and PRO are no help so whatever you suggest I do it has to be something I can do on my own :(

It could be something as simple as he shares the same name as someone who is banned from the UAE, so you need to ask immigration to check. Has he been to any 'dodgy' countries recently? Sometimes they will never tell you what the issue is. Try applying again.

While not wanting to offend is his family name a typical southern Asian one?

I've only been here a short while but heard 2 stories of chaps with British passports but Pakistani origin being denied as they had the same name (or in one case a similar spelt) name to someone on the banned list.
