That's around $54,600.00 per annum ( I assume $28 is exclusive of 9% super and other perks which your employer loads on top of that. i.e. the actual rate is ~$30). Overall $54,600 is a low wage for Sydney, this is more for entry level pay.
If paid $1,050 Gross you are looking at around $742 per week after tax (assuming non-resident visa, slightly better ($837) if resident). Now if you plan to rent a 1 bedroom apartment in a good suburb it will cost you around $200 to 400 per week, plus bills and other expenses you will be having hard time coping. On two incomes (i.e. assuming your wife will work) you should be able to live a comfortable life on that wage.
It also depends on visa, if you get a temporary visa you will not be eligible for governmental rebates which everyone gets (Childcare rebate (can cost as much as $60 per hour if not a resident)/Family-Child Payments which can go up to $250+ per month and etc).....
