Hi all,

I am an RPL applicant and downloaded this form from
https://www.acs.org.au/assessment/docs/RPL_Pack_2.pdf

It does not have sections like "Work Experience", "Community Involvement in IT" etc. as my friend has the form which has the above things. Am i missing something? or this is the only form I need to fill in and send... please guide.
RPL_Pack_2 is correct version.. you do not need "Community Involvement in IT" anymore.. It would be better if you download .doc file and edit the same file ... print it once done to submit.

Mr. India,

Thank you so much for the guidance. So it means I've read all the instructions well...One more thing my CBOK is 15 pages long and I've taken printouts and spiral bind it for the convenience and presentation. In Section 2 of form there are knowledge areas boxes so can i do like "see page 1 of attached RPL for Data structures" ?? or whats the best way to fill this area...similarly in section 1 there is a place "SUMMARY OF RELEVANT EXPERIENCE AND POSITIONS HELD" and in the box it is asking to write your details of responsibilities on each position... can I do like "See Attached Resume for roles and responsibilities" or how should I handle it ?? Please guide like you always.

By the way I bought a file with plastic pockets with the tags like AB, CD, EF, GHI ...etc. I am going to put my stuff as per instructions like "Application Forms" it will go into AB ...and Resume into CD and so on..so can I do like "See page 2 of RPL in folder JK" ?? need to know how to organize.

thank you.

hi Zahid,

What I did is first took MS word version of RPL_Pack_2 filled up the relevent section of the form, including CBOK (in boxes), and then printed out the whole form (which became like 40 pages). Attached cv, and supporting documents (another 20 pages). put them all together in a file (NO spiral binding, please read the ACS guidlines) plastic pocket file are best as you have already bought...

Under summary or relevent exp... you will have to briefly write a few bulletpoints of your experience.. You can write it in details in your CV / CBOK ETC.

Wish you goodluck with ACS.

:) you can treat me as your friend. I am senior software engineer and have 14 years of experience. my email is [email protected] ...I would be glad If I can be of any help.

Once my ACS will come positive I would publish my CBOK on internet so other people can take benefit from it. I've gone thru the tough time while preparing my application specially the CBOK area. Many people on different forums acted strange after clearing the ACS..rather help they guided me to go to the consultant which was disappointing but I didnt give up. I've read everything from ACS website and finished my CBOK without any help. But I dont want to do that. I want to help people who are going thru the same.

Take good care of yourself and let me know if I can be of any help.

For state sponsorship you might have to wait till RPL result as most states ask for skill assessment result.

if you are a dot net expert, you may apply for victoria, which is free.

Hopefully I'm worrying over nothing, but whats the difference between
https://www.acs.org.au/assessment/docs/RPL_Pack_2.pdf

and the

Pre-application Skills Assessment (PASA) ACS (Australian Computer Society) - Membership, Professionalism and Leadership for ICT Professionals and the ICT Community

On the latter, i found a link to a FormPASA2.0 (RecognitionofPriorLearning).doc which looks very similar to the RPL_Pack_2.pdf above, but in far more depth.

I was just about to send my application off, based on the RPL_Pack_2 doc but am now concerned its very wrong.
Help!

Kingbear Good day mate :)

Regarding your question related to difference well the 2nd one is for those professionals who are members of Australian computer society as its mentioned in bold

Use this form if you:
1.
2.
3.
4. are a current financial Member of the ACS, hold PCP or CP designation and have been a Professional Member for at least one year

Well as from 1st week of February onwards the previous method or forms related to RPL track has been transformed into PASA so if you are heading upto RPL track you need to download, fill and send the latest PASA form.

I have sent my application using RPL forms on 7th december and status is still in process but event type is PASA now. The new PASA form is indeed detailed and quite straight forward.

Still if you need some help about the PASA form (formerly RPL) let us know and we will help through this forum.

Regards,
Zahid

I'm applying under 2231-79 and I don't hold any University Qualifications (did a Business & Finance Course at College) but I've worked in 'IT' for 12 years now and have various Cisco/Checkpoint/F5 qualifications so i'm going under the Recognition of Prior Learning banner. I have Company (HR) references, and references from my bosses at all my prior jobs to say what I did. I have also got copies of all my wage slips and contracts to cover the employment periods.

I've written my 2 projects and the old CBOK document, so will just sit and transfer details to the new form. If you think i've missed anything obvious, please shout now but I'll be reading the whole site again to make sure I'm covered

I'm glad to see that they've taken one unreadable document (CBOK) and created an even more unreadable on in the Key Areas of Knowledge

Any pointers happily received as I'm still crying about the changes

Oh I see...I am an Oracle Specialist and been in IT industry since last 11 years now ..The recent changes are very ambiguous at this moment and I know many MARA agents who are not taking any new cases as they themselves not sure what to do and whats going to come later so its kinda wait and see situation.

You do one thing..if you get positive assessment after ACS look for STATE Sponsorship like Queensland, Victoria and others also and as you are from england you should not have any problems getting them. Keep your fingers crossed I am sure you will make it.

I've always planned to get in around August time, so, assuming i get accredited, I'm going for the 457 visa. I have some contacts in Syndey, which is where I want to go, so hoping to use these to get sponsored. We sent off an application for 175 visa under my wife (Primary Teacher) about 18 months ago but due to the changes, our application won't be looked at now until 2012 :( So, to keep to plan, going down this route.
