Dear All,

I'm looking to apply for a spouse visa for my wife around September time and I'm currently looking for adequate accommodation for us both. The problem that I'm having at the moment is landlords/agents are refusing to provide me with a no objection letter giving permission for my wife to reside with me unless she has a UK visa, yet to apply for a UK spouse visa I need the landlord letter as part of her application.

How can I overcome this difficulty?

They can supply a letter that states that under the condition that they have a spouse visa, they will be allowed to reside at the property

Landlords are heavily scrutinised in respect of people they accommodate...there are serious penalties if they fail to observe the Rules.

The best plan would be to get a Tenancy in Your Name Only and providing it is Not an HMO getting your spouse added or noted on the Agreement( once the Visa as been issued) at a letter date. This will give the Landlord the assurance required.
